I went to a photography conference in Utah last week and came away with a list of weaknesses in my photography. One of the big ones is the tendency I have to shy away from bright, open light. For some reason I've just got a mental block and I can't make myself do it. I would much rather only shoot in the hour before sunset, all the time. But that's silly, that's like eating dessert for every meal! It's not real life! Sometimes photos will just need to be taken at noon with nary a speck of shade to be found! I practiced today at the beach with a new awareness of light after the things I learned from Heather Nan at the conference last week.
P.s. I can't even believe how great a place LA is these days. I'm just so happy to be in a part of the world where this is what February feels like.
